DR. REESE R. PETERSEN, DC, FMSC
CERTIFIED PROVIDER OF ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUES (ART), FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SYSTEMS (FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREEN 'FMS' AND SELECTIVE FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT ASSESSMENT 'SFMA') LEVEL II, AND LIFE COACHING
Hello friends. My name is Reese, and I have been in practice since 2014. Formerly the owner and provider of Pinnacle Sport & Spine Clinic, I chose to reinvent my practice when returning from a hand injury that sidelined me from practicing for an extended period of time. This is what Doc's Body Shop is now: my creation and vision, not someone else's. It embodies nearly a decade of learning what helps and what - quite simply - does not.
Why not "Reese's Body Shop"? After all, my name is not "Doc". I really never liked being called "Dr. Reese" or "Dr. Petersen" unless I had to. It was too formal for my style. There was an ability to remain professional without insisting on being called anything other than my name. I had a handful of patients who persisted to call me some variation of Doctor, shortened it to "Doc", which I did not mind, and felt it was a fair compromise. It stuck, and every time I hear it I am reminded of the nostalgic Bugs Bunny Looney Toons line.
Now to boast. I have been trained by practitioners who have worked with professional and collegiate sports organizations, as well as Olympians. In fact, I myself have treated many high-level athletes in my practice. Despite specializing in sports injuries, I love to work with people from all walks of life. Working with students and student athletes is one of the more rewarding experiences, as many of the injuries one experiences later in life can be avoided or at least lessened with early detection and correction.
My philosophy is that chiropractic adjustments are beneficial, primarily for acute (0-4 days) injuries, and at times for subacute (5-14 days) injuries. However, when you enter into the subacute to postacute (beyond 14 days) phases of injuries, especially into what is considered chronic, chiropractic adjustments only feel good briefly. Have you ever heard anyone say "It felt great when I got adjusted! Then one my way home in the car, it came right back"? Chiropractic adjustments release pressure, release endorphins (natural pain killers), though this is often short-lived. Enter musculoskeletal therapy. Correcting soft tissue dysfunctions and improper motor control patterns is the KEY to sustainable reductions in pain, improvements in range of motion, better ability to complete your activities of daily living without limitations, and not having to rely on constant 5-minute, short chiropractic cracks and then come back in a few days. Here is a healthcare industry secret: that is the lazy chiropractor's way, and a way for him or her to make more money! Don't fall into that nonsense. Get a thorough biomechanical/orthopedic exam. Get the necessary adjustments. Take some extra time to get soft tissue therapy. Get stretched! Learn what you can do on your own time to sustain the results. I do all of these.
On a more personal note, I am married to my best friend. Still not sure what a goofy guy like myself did to get the girl, though I thank God daily. I am the father of three boys who - from oldest to youngest - aspire to be a paleontologist, singer/songwriter, and WWE superstar. Our family will be welcoming a baby girl in October! The greatest title of all I have earned is "Dada". Lord knows I made mistakes throughout life, though to be where I am now is something I never take for granted. Life is an incredible journey for any one of us, you only have to be open to the living with goodness at the core of every choice you make. Be grateful, and show gratitude often. Love life, always.
I hope to see you around the Body Shop soon! Though I ethically cannot guarantee results, I can guarantee you will get more time and more thorough treatment of your ailments. Just ask any patient who I have treated currently or in the past, and I am confident they would agree.
☮ PEACE of mind
♡ LOVE your health.
Blessings and best wishes,
We have the most flexible hours available in our area.
If there are times you want to request which are not available, please contact us. For years we have been able to see patients earlier or later, depending on the particular day. Just as we have personal and family lives, we understand you do as well. The typical 9am-5pm may not work with your work or family schedule, and sometimes the same applies for us. We get it, and we will do our best to accommodate (within reason, of course)!
